Award-winning author and photographer Tim Palmer will show images and discuss his new book, Twilight of the Hemlocks and Beeches, published by Penn State University Press. With stunning photographs taken throughout the range of the Eastern Hemlock and American Beech, Palmer shows the irreplaceable beauty of these magnificent trees, and he explains the invasions of exotic insects and pathogens that are tragically decimating these foundational species of the eastern forests. Palmer spent several years creating a photographic record as a lasting legacy of these cherished but disappearing trees. The event is sponsored by the Connecticut Forest and Park Association and Yale Global Institute of Sustainable Forestry.
